The Humantay Lagoon one-day tour along the Salkantay route offers visitors an intensive experience to explore one of the most impressive natural destinations in the Cusco region, Peru.
Humantay Lagoon is located on the route to the famous Inca Trail, specifically on the Salkantay route. During the day tour, participants take a challenging but rewarding hike through the beautiful Andean landscapes, including mountains, valleys, and high mountain streams.
The highlight of the tour is the arrival at Humantay Lagoon, where visitors are amazed by the turquoise waters of the lagoon and the impressive views of the snow-capped peaks that surround it, including the imposing Salkantay snow-capped mountain.
It is important to be prepared for the altitude and changing weather conditions during the hike, so it is recommended to bring warm clothing, sunscreen, a hat, and enough water. Furthermore, it is advisable to book the tour with a reliable company that provides experienced guides and safe services.
One day before the start date of the tour, we will provide you with all the necessary instructions for the tour to Humantay Lagoon and we will indicate the entire travel itinerary with the respective recommendations.
On the day of the tour, we will pick you up at your hotels at the agreed time the day before, between 4:00 am and 4:30 am, to board the minivan and take us to the town of Mollepata in the lush Apurimac River Valley, a place where we will taste our breakfast and buy what is necessary to carry out the tour before starting the walk to the Humantay Lagoon located at 4200 meters above sea level. After breakfast, we continue towards Challacancha, enjoying all the majesty of the snow-capped Humantay in the Vilcabamba mountain range along the way and we continue the route to Soraypampa 2900 meters above sea level, a place where we will have a short break, recharging energy to continue our trip. to the starting point of the Soraypampa hike, beginning our hike to Humantay Lagoon. On the tour we will have impressive views of the Humantay Lagoon and surprising viewpoints appreciating all the scenic beauty of the place, which will allow us to take impressive photographs to remember.
From Soraypampa to Humantay Lagoon it is 2 km, which can be done between 1 hour and 30 minutes to approximately 2 hours of walking. We will be able to appreciate on one side the Nevado de Humantay at 4200 meters above sea level and on the other side the Impressive Nevado de Salkantay. In the Humantay Lagoon we will have free time of approximately 1 hour to rest, take photos and appreciate the landscape and then return to Soyaypampa, board the Mini Van and head to Mollepata where a delicious lunch awaits us and finally we will be returning to the city of Cusco arriving at approximately 6:30 pm.
